When you think of Milwaukee, witnessing some truly spectacular sunsets probably doesn’t jump to the top of your list of things to enjoy during your stay in the city, as those fantasy-like moments are often dreamt of in association with tropical islands or quaint beach towns.  But, we’re here to tell you that our stunning Milwaukee sunset is second to none!

There’s nothing more beautiful than the gorgeous colors of a summer sunset brightly reflecting off of the lake shores or over our beautiful skyline.  The hues of yellow, orange, red, and purple simply overwhelm the area with silent beauty. It’s a sight that should be on your to-do list during your stay in town.  From scenic spots on the shore to rooftop bars, there are so many ways you can enjoy these long summer nights. Here are some local hotspots around town for kicking back and watching a stunning Milwaukee summer sunset:  

Colectivo Coffee (1701 N Lincoln Memorial Dr.) – This lakefront café is in the historic Milwaukee River Flushing Station.  It’s a great place to grab a bite, a drink, and just sit outside in the fresh air with a beautiful view of the lake.  

South Shore Park (2900 S Shore Dr.) – This is a great spot to go for an evening stroll or to just sit and watch the sunset over the lake and city.

Milwaukee Art Museum (700 N Art Museum Dr.) – In addition to just being a lovely place to visit and view fantastic works of art, The Bradley Collection on the second floor has a sculpture gallery with couches.  This is an ideal place to have a quiet moment while taking in unobstructed views of the lake.

Bradford Beach (2400 N Lincoln Memorial Dr.) – After you spend a hot day playing and relaxing on the beach with friends, stick around to watch the sun go down over a picnic or a bite on the patio.   

Harbor House (550 N Harbor Dr.) – Enjoy a delicious seafood dinner while you watch the sun go down.  The restaurant sits right on the water, so you have great views of Lake Michigan and downtown.

McKinley Marina (1750 N Lincoln Memorial Dr.) – Take a walk along the break wall for a fantastic view of the sunset over the city skyline, or walk out on the pier to get the full effect of the reflections across the water.

Milwaukee Lakefront (Oak Leaf Trail) – This is a great place to just go and unwind peacefully in nature at the end of the day.  The trail takes you by the art museum for some truly gorgeous views.

Lakeshore State Park (500 N Harbor Dr.) – Lakeshore is another lovely place to go for an evening stroll while watching the sunset over the lake and city.  There’s also a bike trail for those looking for a little evening workout under the colorful sky.
