Summer and all of its fun-in-the-sun activities may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean that the party stops here.  Now, is that most exciting time of year when the season starts to change, nature shows off its beautiful color pallet before going to sleep for the cold winter ahead, and we get to celebrate all the beautiful features of fall in Milwaukee!  So, to kick off this beautiful season, we’re looking at some of the can’t miss September events that should be on your social calendar. Here’s what we’re looking forward to:  

Oktoberfest

When:  September 6th – October 5th 

Where:  Heidelberg Park at the Bavarian Bierhaus

Celebrating 60 years of great music, beer, and food, you won’t want to miss this festival.  For five consecutive weekends, you can head to the Bavarian Bierhaus in Heidelberg Park for celebratory music from area favorites like Austrian Express, Die Freistadt Alte Kameraden, and more.  Plus, indulge in all things celebrating German heritage. It’s fun for the whole family and a great way to kick off the fall season.

Harbor Fest

When:  September 8th from 11a.m. to 4p.m. 

Where:  600 E. Greenfield Ave.

This free, family-friendly event celebrates all things related to fish and boats.  It spans the 600 block of East Greenfield Avenue where event-goers can check out Harbor View Plaza, enjoy live music, boat rides, local food, watch the Milwaukee Boat Parade, and more.  

Riverworks Week

When:  September 16th – 21st 

Where:  Visit the event website for all event locations.   

This is one event you won’t want to miss!  Check out Milwaukee’s creative district, and join in on the fun that is Riverworks Week.  It’s a week of exciting events designed to entertain, enlighten, and expand your ideas about Milwaukee and its treasured local businesses and celebrated culture.  Whether you’re looking for a delicious cup of coffee at one of the pop up cafes, a block party to close the work week, or a bike tour through one of Wisconsin’s oldest planned industrial parks, this event has something for absolutely everyone. 

5th Street Fest

When:  September 21st 

Where:  Walker’s Point

From the people, to the culture, to our businesses, food, brewers, artists, musicians and more, 5th Street Fest is a showcase all about sharing the things that make Milwaukee such an amazing place to live in and visit.  The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Walker’s Point Association non-profit.  

Bay View Bash

When:  September 21st from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Where:  Between Potter and Clement on Kinnickinnic Avenue

This annual community festival features food, art, music, crafts, books and more!  The musical lineup is extensive with acts that include Kali Masi, 5 O’clock Charlie, Immortal Girlfriend, Zed Zenzo, Dramatic Lovers, and many more.  The event is a fundraiser for the Bay View Community Fund Inc. All proceeds go directly back into our city’s neighborhoods through grants that fund special projects. 

Just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean that the fun has to stop.  Around here, we keep the party going year-round! This is just the tiniest glimpse into the cultural social calendar of our community.  So, be sure to get out there, continue to explore our great city, and enjoy the warmer temperatures while you still can.
